But what about those dozen or so fall weekends ahead...
Well, that’s where West Virginia comes in. And jumping off bridges.
And The Tree House, an extremely private wooded retreat of adventure sports and hot tubbery overlooking West Virginia’s famous New River Gorge, now available for rent. (See the slideshow here.)
First, it’s not actually in a tree. It’s just 3,100 square feet of modernness surrounded by lots of trees. And decks to look at them. And a hot tub and outdoor shower to look at... each other.
If you must bring a group larger than two, well, the place can sleep a dozen across its four bedrooms and open-air “sleeping porch” on the semi-attached bunkhouse. (And yes, you should draw straws for the sleeping porch.)
Just make sure they’re the outdoorsy types, because by day you’ll be exploring 10 miles of trails. Or ziplining a mile away. Or—for something a bit different—hitting Class V whitewater (i.e., really serious whitewater) on the Gauley River, or even BASE jumping 876 feet off the New River Gorge Bridge into that river.
