16 Types of Po’boys on H Street

Po’boys.

They’re not po’. And they’re not boys.

Discuss.

Okay, that’s enough discussion. Time to go here: Po Boy Jim, a two-story safe house for all kinds of po’boy sandwiches and other NOLA delights, now soft-open on H Street.

This place is... a little on the sparse side. There are exposed brick walls, wooden booths and a few upside-down lamps.

But you’re not here for the walls and stuff. You’re here for the po’boys. They’ve got 16 of them. Classics like roast beef, braised shrimp and fried oysters with rémoulade. And nonclassics like Thai beef with peanut slaw. They’re all big, too. But if you’re still not full, get a flight of wings. Or sure, some crawfish spring rolls.

Now, the sandwich counter is currently open with a limited menu. But starting Saturday, they’ll unleash the full menu, the back patio (with picnic tables and a mural) and the bar. So then you can pair your po’boys with a hurricane or an Abita Amber on draft.

Pair like the wind.
