Great moments in muffin history:

1975: Frank Zappa releases “Muffin Man.”
1997: Seinfeld premieres the “Muffin Tops” episode.
2014: This place opens.

Say hello to Uprising Muffin Company, a place that puts just about everything, even your breakfast sandwich, in muffin form. They’re now open on 7th Street.

This looks pretty much like a coffee shop, and a comfortable one at that. They’re brewing up Ceremony coffee, and they’ve got leather club chairs, a granite bar, some local art on the walls.

But unlike your average java spot, they’ve got about a dozen housemade muffins alluringly displayed every day. For starters, look no further than the savory bacon, egg and cheese. That’s your muffin main course. We’re talking about bacon and cheddar in the dough, which is baked around a dollop of egg in the center. You’ll probably want two.

Then it’s on to sweet muffins like coffee cake with a crumble center, banana chocolate chip and black-bottom filled with cream cheese.

You may want to take a few to go, but if you’re throwing a muffin-centric event, they’ll take special orders for a few dozen.

You never know when a muffin panic will hit.
