Adams Morgan’s Newest Ramen House

Among those things the hurricane blew away: the last vestiges of summer, leaving you with lots of frosty nights and windburn in your future.

Fortunately, you’ve now also got lots more duck and pork-belly ramen in your future.

So say hello to Taan Noodles, officially opening tonight in Adams Morgan to help ease your transition into winter.

Sure, this could be a casual, no-pressure first-date spot anytime. But you’ll really want to reserve it for those cold, blustery first-date situations, when the two of you can duck in here to seek out the cascading warmth of hot ramen.

The vibe: something like rustic apothecary meets Japanese teahouse—exposed wooden beams, salvaged doors hanging over the bar and a giant stockpot adorning the front window (so you know the place is legit).

Downstairs, it’s all high-top tables, while in the darker upstairs, you’ll sit on leather ottomans at low lounge tables. Feel free to start out with some izakaya dishes like mackerel with daikon and habanero or fried green tomato with uni hollandaise. But really, you’re here for the broth—pork belly, duck confit and chicken confit, simmered seemingly forever.

While you wait, order up a bottle of sake, or cocktails that blend bourbon and vodka with Asian touches like soy and Japanese chili powder.

You always liked a little umami in your drink.
