Market Timing
A Bar with Marrow-Topped Burgers
Turkey. It was great the first time. It was still good the seventh time (i.e., the leftover turkey
fondue).
But it’s time to play a new tune. It’s called red meat, and there’s a new place that knows that one
backwards and forwards.
Say hello to
Market Tavern, now open in Clarendon where you used to find Harry’s Tap Room. And
you’re not here for poultry.
The
place may feel familiar, but with a few new touches—floating wine bottle lamps here, a giant mural of
a bull there.
You also now have some choices. For a blind date, you’ll want to camp out at the downstairs bar, where you
can pull a high-top table up to the gas fireplace in the wall and get started on 26 drafts, cocktails like
the
Black Velvet Russian (Old Rasputin stout and prosecco) and
burgers topped
with marrow.
Or if you’re celebrating another success (we don’t mean the blind date), head for the upstairs
chophouse, where you’ll help yourself to the bread-and-butter bar (three of each, like herb butter and
honey butter). From there, it’s six cuts of steak, short-rib casserole with polenta and wine sauce, and 76
wines by the glass.
They come in bottles, too.
