This House Is Also a Town

There’s a property for sale that doubles as an Old West party town. Yep. Let’s run the numbers:

Size of the living quarters: 2,080 square feet
Number of saloons on the grounds: 1
Number of “chuck houses”: 1
Number of both at your current home: < 1
Asking price: $399,500
Verdict: good deal

A Very Hitchcock Dinner
RIGHT SAID ALFRED

A Very Hitchcock Dinner

Henry’s Majestic is hosting a Hitchcock-themed dinner in honor of the man’s birthday. He would be 116, if you’re counting. Each of the four courses is based on one of his films and includes a drink pairing. Prepare to eat some birds.

Friday
A Cabana Spot in the Design District
ANCHOR MANAGEMENT

A Cabana Spot in the Design District

There’s this new bar. It’s called Anchor. It’s sporting a bunch of cabanas and serving up poolside drinks and snacks (margaritas, street tacos, wings). It’s connected to the DoubleTree, so... beware of smaller-than-average hotel guests. Maybe go at night. Cabanas are still nice at night.

Saturday
Watermelon Kegs at Truck Yard
GIVE ’EM MEL

Watermelon Kegs at Truck Yard

Truck Yard is serving margaritas out of hollowed-out watermelons this weekend. Which seems like a fine use for hollowed-out watermelons. Oh, there will also be a donkey in attendance. He’ll be carrying a mini barrel of tequila and pouring samples. So, donkey photo op.

Aug 15-16, Truck Yard, 5624 Sears St, 469-500-0139

Sunday
Good Food. Good Drinks. Good Sunday.
WORKS LIKE A FARM

Good Food. Good Drinks. Good Sunday.

Eight bartenders. Five chefs. One promising Sunday. That’s the math of it all. It being this Chefs for Farmers Mix Off event that will see you eating and drinking really, really well. And then voting for the winner and soliciting bribes/“seconds.”
