Velvet Goldmine
Your First Look Inside the Dram
Monday.
You’re slammed—after all, singing telegrams don’t deliver themselves.
So we’ll get right to it: there’s a spectacular new cocktail den on Henderson, and it’s opening
tomorrow night.
Meet
The Dram, a sexy, low-lit temple of scotch and velvet from three Scottish brothers, opening
just in time to meet your Valentine’s Day imbibing needs.
This is the kind of place where Ron Burgundy would’ve taken a hot date in 1978—velvet curtains
everywhere, paintings from Scotland,
plush banquettes in endless colors and 90 bottles of scotch scotchy scotch scotch. Also: jazz flutes.
(Okay: no jazz flutes.)
Now, you can call ahead for reservations, or just pop in and grab a red suede stool at the bar. The head
barman, Dub, is a Bolsa alum, and he makes his drinks (like the bourbon-powered
Just Business) with
bitters in flavors like chocomole. (If you like what you taste, you can buy a bottle to take home.)
Once sated, your next move is to the brown leather sofa hidden away in a corner nook. There, summon the
barkeep, who will wheel over a silver cart stocked with booze. Request a
Phil Collins with gin,
black pepper dust, basil and soda.
Drum solo not included.
