Mill Work
Your New Beer Garden on Henderson
Moving on can be tough. For example:
2008: Leaving Beijing and your Olympic fling, Ziyi Zhang.
2009: Retiring your lucky jeans after that incident with the nachos.
2010: The end of
Lost. (You miss Hugo.)
And now: losing your favorite restaurant with a speakeasy in the back, Park.
So to ease the pain, today we bring you
The Gin Mill, a new urban-y beer garden that’s opening in
its place, arriving Wednesday on Henderson.
First, a moment of silence for your short rib dinners and gin-fueled dance parties at Park’s speakeasy,
Bar Céline...
And with that, let’s move on. Because the guys from Capitol Pub have gutted and transformed this spot into
what feels
like a black-tie brewpub, complete with chandeliers, a majestic Lyptus wood bar, vintage Italian signs
and a gravel beer garden filled with skinny, well-made tables (perfect for meeting your skinny, well-made
neighbors).
So next Wednesday, you’ll head here, grab a pint of Franconia off one of the 15 taps and move outside to
the beer garden, where you’ll claim the table surrounding the center tree and get cozy with
pork sliders and
Jimmy’s Meatballs.
But if you start getting nostalgic, head to the back, where the DJ and bocce court remain unchanged.
Don’t worry, Calvin is still DJing.
