A Tasting Room of Wine and Meatballs

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.

Sure.

But when life presents you with grapes, you do something far more productive with your time.

These guys get it.

Up your fruit intake at Umbra Winery, a new wine bar and tasting room from the same-named Texas vino makers, soft-open now and grand-opening Sunday in downtown Grapevine. (See it here.)

This place is part of Grapevine’s urban wine trail, so you can make a day of it or swing through as part of a broader mission to sample as many local wines as you can. Either way, you’ll find a hospitable situation here of brick walls, wooden barrels and a brightly colored bar.

Speaking of that bar, it’s pouring a full assortment of varietals. So taste a few reds or sit back with a glass. Or a bottle. Maybe get a case to go, if the mood strikes. And if you’re hungry, they’re feeding you Italian snacks like meatballs, bruschetta and cheese boards. (See the full menu.)

Now, along the wall you’ll probably notice those science-y glass contraptions with attached hoses and hand pumps. That’s so you can fully experience the aroma of the wines.

These guys aren’t messing around.
