We trust you had a good Memorial Day weekend.

Probably got up to some burger-and-beer-related activities.

So let’s keep the celebration going at K.T. Burger, a new salvo from the Katy Trail Ice House people, now open in Highland Park Village. (See inside.)

It’s a pretty simple operation. The former Village Kitchen space has been outfitted with wood-planked walls, wooden tables and a walk-up counter. There you can order from a handful of burgers, sandwiches and sides. And you should also get something cold and refreshing to drink with it. We were gonna say water, but sure, a beer works, too.

If you need a cheeseburger and fries before seeing a movie next door, these guys can arrange that. If you get hungry for a hot dog and a milkshake while shopping nearby, yep, make it this place. And if you just need a casual spot to drink a beer and watch a game on a TV that’s not small... same thing applies. (Here’s the menu.)

Then, a couple months down the road, they’ll be filling that open space upstairs with a pizza-and-wine joint called Five Creeks Tavern.

Which is much better than them not doing that.
