Bienvenidos a San Salvaje, the latest concept from Stephan Pyles and one that’s set to ply you with all manner of appetizing Latin things, slated to open soon in the Arts District.
This place used to be Samar. RIP Samar. But now, it’s an expanded, wide-open and sunny spot with wood floors, multicolored tables and South American art adorning the walls. Plus a circular bar that’s pouring pisco sours and a menu that’s featuring dishes from Mexico, Peru, Cuba and other places that know their way around a kitchen.
The result: a damn fine dinner spot, that’s what. So claim a corner table or one of those green, high-backed booths with a date. Then order some fresh ceviche, a dressed-up ropa vieja and a plate of sea bass. All the essentials.
And because the weather’s cooperating nicely, you’ll want to test out that patio. It’s a good area to engage in discourse and caipirinhas while gazing at the Belo Mansion. And coming soon: an attached bocce court. So start working on your technique.
