Show Stopper
Jerry Kleiner's Big Screen Debut
Movies are all about escapism.
But sometimes even your escapism could use, well, a little escapism.
Welcome to
The Lobby Lounge at ShowPlace Icon Theatre, your new South Loop destination for ice-cold
pitchers of martinis, bacon-studded popcorn and—as long as you're here—a Hollywood blockbuster
or two.
Your new one-stop date destination comes from the hometown movie magnates behind Kerasotes Theatres and the
ultimate Chicago nightlife showman, Jerry Kleiner. (You always knew he was destined for the big
screen.)
After getting off the escalator, you'll pass the concessions stand and follow the gilded-framed photos of De
Niro, Depp and Uma up the stairs. First, you'll notice floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of
the city. Well, actually you'll probably notice a Fiat 500 sitting at the top of the stairs—that sort
of thing kind has way of catching one's eye. And then you'll probably spy that magnificent central bar with
white leather club chairs and a plush red seating area. And more Uma photos. But, trust us, you'll
definitely get around to the view.
Since you already picked out your seats online, there's no need to rush through your food. Your noshing
options include antipasti, pizza and that aforementioned popcorn, along with bottles of bubbly—which
you can then take into you the theater, where you'll stretch back on leather loungers and wait for the show
to begin.
Again, no hurry.
