Meat Me at the Bar
Redefining Your Neighborhood Corner Pub
Sometimes you want to escape to the warmth and intimacy of working man's pub. Other times, you want a place
dripping with extravagance.
And sometimes you can't make up your mind.
Welcome to
Old Town Social, opening Saturday, reintroducing you to the restorative powers of good
meat, cold beer and a really good shoe shine.
Think of OTS as your old-fashioned corner bar, which just happens to look like someone dropped a
turn-of-the-century mansion in the middle of an airplane hangar: tufted antique settees, a fireplace, marble
bar tops and one enormous exposed-joist barrel ceiling. (If you see Amelia Earhart, buy her a
Lavender
& Lemon Gimlet—she could probably use a drink.)
Strong brew like Bell's Two Hearted Ale (and about 59 others) await, but first pull up to the charcuterie
bar where house-made soppressata, mortadella and pepperoni flow freely from the tap (by which we mean an
antique hand-cranked meat slicer). Drop by early for a quick polish at the vintage shoe-shine station before
sneaking a date into one of the secluded two-person cubbyholes and making a dinner of
Smoked Sausage and
Waffles,
Crispy Duck Wings or
Scotch Woodcock (um, not what it sounds like).
And while you didn't hear it from us, there's talk about a secret downstairs bar opening in a few
weeks…
In case you need an escape from your escape.
