Old Crow Smokehouse

Crow Bar

A Giant New Barbecue Hall in Wrigleyville

Last night in Green Bay was a victory for Chicago.

Today in Wrigleyville: another win for the city.

At this place: Old Crow Smokehouse, a new honky-tonk filled with plenty of bourbon, baby back ribs and... pulled-pork egg rolls, now open.

When you enter this lair, you’ll feel like you’ve just stepped into a barn near Peoria. Mostly because of all the reclaimed wood from Peoria. The retractable glass roof, however, is pure Wrigleyville bar.

You’ll probably want to show up hungry. The pitmaster was on MasterChef and has four kinds of sauce for the meat: spicy sriracha, vinegar, a beer-spiked concoction and a smoked-bourbon number. And he’s not afraid to incorporate his pulled pork into everything from tacos and egg rolls to sliders and poutine.

Then again, if you just want to come here with friends, down the occasional shot of smoked bourbon, munch on some peanuts and watch the game, that works, too. There are a couple of 12-panel video walls and 16 TVs above the bar.

Oh, and on Thursdays through Saturdays, you might see a country-western or rockabilly band on a small stage near the back.

Or... you’ll hear one, at least.
