We say officially because you can swing by this Saturday between 1 and 3pm and purchase a growler full of their fine product. It’s located in a space last occupied by everyone’s favorite adult novelty shop, the Pleasure Chest. You won’t recognize the place now. Okay, there are some rubber hoses, but those are strictly used for getting beer from the 310-gallon tanks behind the bar to the taps.
Otherwise, you’ll find a centerpiece 50-foot split-timber bar—a proud oak from Northbrook that was struck by lightning last year and has gone to a better place. This is where you’ll sit when you investigate the six beers on tap. Like the Angry Samoan, a coconut milk stout (made with real coconuts), and the Vampire for Your Love, flavored with kaffir lime leaves and Sichuan peppers. Spicy beer.
When it’s time to eat, you’ll head to that comfy banquette and open a menu. It features hanger steak (with stout reduction sauce), porchetta (with ale reduction) and peanut brittle made with smoked chilies, almonds, peanuts and their Chicago Common beer.
