When you're perched 26 dizzying floors above State Street, it's hard not to feel like Batman.
It's even harder when you're holding a dry martini, served by a lithe young thing dressed in a shiny
skintight catsuit.
Welcome to Vertigo, the Dana Hotel's long-awaited top-floor penthouse lounge and patio. It's
finally opening Saturday, but we think you've waited long enough—that's why we're taking fifteen UD
readers and their friends with us to Friday's VIP preview.
Expect servers in Catwoman-esque outfits to steal the show, but the Chicago Theatre twinkling in the
distance is another fairly breathtaking sight (click for slideshow). Huddle inside with
friends on a leather half-moon couch, or head to the terrace for stunning cityscapes, a bit of air and
plenty of snuggling around the fire pit.
The servers will be pushing brass-trimmed carts with your drink of choice. One's dedicated to mojitos,
another to martinis and one to bottle service, including airline-sized bottles—which may explain why
some servers are dressed like goth versions of Braniff Airways stewardesses.
So you don't have to leave your cozy spot, they'll even run down to fetch you maki rolls or Waygu
Carpaccio from Ajasteak on the ground floor.
You'll soon forget all about Alfred.
