A Seafood Pub Anchors in Lincoln Park

Your weekend agenda: kissing babies, shaking hands, rallying supporters, consolidating power bases, making promises, twisting arms, bossing wards...

Basically, doing whatever it takes to get your hands on a cold beer.

Well, listen: your campaign just became easier. Welcome to George Street Pub, a friendly little tap with a passion for good Midwestern beer and New Orleans–tinged seafood, opening today.

It’s true, the neighborhood pub seems to be making a bit of a comeback this week. But don’t call this a comeback: the guys behind this place honed their expertise in all things beer and beer-battered at places like Yak-Zies, Glenn’s Diner and the Half Shell.

The black-and-white photos of our mighty river give you the first indication of where your dinner is heading... to Louisiana (thanks, backward-flowing river). So, yes, you’ll have steady access to crawfish po’boys and jambalaya, in addition to bacon-studded cheddar burgers.

You’ll spend carefree summer Saturday afternoons watching the Cubs—there are plenty of flat-screens—or sipping a beer from one of 50 local microbreweries in a brick-lined patio beer garden. It’s exactly the kind of tavern that savvy politicos would be smart to stop into for a little get-out-the-vote glad-handing.

Ignore the influential Cajun-chicken-gumbo-loving North Sider voting bloc at your peril.
