Where to Get Cozy on Valentine’s Day

The Frank Sinatra Table, Pump Room

This big hemisphere of a booth is discreetly placed in the back, but has a serene view of State Parkway on one side and a black-and-white photo of the Chairman of the Board on the other. He’ll no doubt be admiring your moxie, kid.

The Sherry Bar, Vera

You want to keep things relaxed but elegant. For that, we suggest a seat at the small front bar, with lights set just right for nibbling some manchego, sipping an amusing little sherry, splitting an entire paella—and if things start to get serious, there’s always a ham flight on standby.

Fireplace Table, North Pond

Yes, obviously. This former warming shelter for skaters—with its Prairie-style decor and big glass doors overlooking North Pond (and the skyline twinkling just beyond)—is an easy win. But request one of these two tables next to the crackling fireplace. You can’t do all the smoldering.

The Lounge, Michael Jordan’s Steak House

You’re looking for privacy. Without looking like you’re looking for privacy. (We understand.) The curved bar in the lounge banks in such a way that the tables on the far side discreetly shield you from the prying eyes of strangers... or whoever’s eyes you’re avoiding.

The Window Seat, Eduardo’s Enoteca

There’s nothing wrong with a simple pizza and chianti on Valentine’s... as long as you have the right table to share them at. Request the one propped up in the window and away from the main dining room in this new wine-and-pasta concept from the Edwardo’s folk, upping the amore to appropriate levels.
