A Whiter Shade of Pale
Terzo Piano Opens in the Modern Wing

If there's one thing you know about 20th century art, it's that anything can be used for inspiration.

Even lunch. (Just ask Warhol.)

Here to give you a little creative spark: Terzo Piano, debuting Saturday along with the Modern Wing of the Art Institute.

Think of Terzo as a blank canvas for you to spend a leisurely afternoon discussing the masterpieces you've just witnessed inside the museum (and not just the women you saw…). All white-on-white with gorgeous views of North Michigan Avenue's skyline in one direction and the canopy of the Renzo Piano–designed wing in the other, the third-floor perch offers you and your art partner (artner?) a mouthwatering spread of lamb burgers, handmade spaghetti with spring mushrooms, flatbreads and antipasti—all designed by food-artist/Spiaggia-chef/Obama-favorite Tony Mantuano.

And on those days when you would prefer to experience the art of nature, grab a chair on the semi-enclosed piazza and take your time knocking back a few selections from the bar.

The Picassos aren't going anywhere…
