Rick Bayless has two new places opening this Thursday.

On Cinco de Mayo.

...

Anyway, they’re called Cruz Blanca and Leña Brava, respectively, and you’ll be happy to know they coexist in the same building on Randolph Row.

First, say hello to our little friend, this slideshow.

Then, brace yourself for the part where we break it all down...

The Concept
Cruz Blanca: A casual cerveceria first and a fast-casual taqueria second.
Leña Brava: It’s your more date-friendly, Baja California–inspired seafood restaurant.

The Food
CB: Taco plates that take their cue from Oaxaca’s legendary meat market, “smoke alley.”
LB (pictured): You’ve got “fire” (whole striped bass prepared over a gloriously primitive wood-fired grill) and “ice” (ceviche maki and spicy aguachiles). Dare you to go wrong.

The Drinks
CB: Six house-brewed beers focusing on Euro-style lagers and French bières de garde, plus guest taps.
LB: One of the largest mezcal selections in the country, 15 house cocktails and an exclusive 750 mL bottled beer from next door. Neighbors, right?

The Upstairs
CB: A spacious tasting room bathed in natural light.
LB: An intimate room with skyline views.

Oh, right. There’s an upstairs.
