Thai Village Is Now This Place

Regarding the lack of late-night Thai chicken wings and watermelon beer on a certain stretch of Division Street...

There isn’t one anymore.

Meet Silli Kori, a noble endeavor that aims to provide you with all the many comforts of Thailand, opening Monday in Wicker Park. (This would be your slideshow.)

You remember Thai Village on Division. Solid pad thai. Quick with a cold Singha. Not particularly earth-shattering on the corner-Thai-date-joint front, though.

Well, the family’s niece took over. She looked around and said those hand-carved Thai doors and the pad thai can stay, but what this place really needed was more barn wood (of course), a mural on the wall and tables made from an old bowling alley. It’s not a Thai date spot these days without those.

But what she really figured you needed: good beer. So Hell or High Watermelon and Apex Predator Farmhouse Ale are all there. And she figured you also needed Thai-basil rum cocktails. So those are there, too.

Finally, what you probably didn’t need, but what you’re getting anyway, is a weekend late-night menu filled with things like brandy-marinated chicken wings and shrimp toast.

No, actually, you needed that.
