A Beachy New Spot in Lincoln Park

None 8 Photos Summer House Santa Monica
Today is Halloween. You probably know what that means.

Yep, 233 days until summer.

Until then, you can amuse yourself here: Summer House Santa Monica, a bright and beachy escapade in Lincoln Park, opening tomorrow.

Think of this as a seasonal affective disorder remedy in restaurant form. It comes to you by way of a Santa Monica chef and Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises. And it’s got the relaxed feel of a decked-out lakeside getaway, all whitewashed boards, lifeguard chairs at the bar and a flood of overhead sunlight during the day.

The point: you’ll want to take it easy here. In the morning, pop into the front bakery for a housemade English muffin, coffee and a banana... which just happens to be sliced and placed atop a chocolate chip cookie. On drizzly afternoons, hang in the lounge near the retractable glass wall with a Hot Mess of Fries (with braised pork and a fried egg) and a glass of warm, rum-spiked tea.

Mostly, though, this is a leisurely-dinner-with-friends place. Where you’ll feast on bison meat loaf or Wagyu steak frites. Under the retractable glass roof. With a wine cart that occasionally stops at your table.

Don’t ride it.
