It’s been on our mind lately. Don’t ask us why.
But say you’ve reached an impasse. You need a place to hash things out. Our advice: pick somewhere discreet. Laid-back. Somewhere off the beaten path. Somewhere with lots of beer.
And a strong belt of whiskey in case things get tense.
Well, we know a place just like that: The Reservoir, a square-shouldered little refuge of beer and pub food, now open in Uptown.
It ticks all the boxes you want when you think easygoing tap house. First, of course: copious amounts of wood paneling. And a not-so-copious amount of televisions scattered about for the Bears game. Plus 16 craft brews—including Lakefront Pumpkin Lager and Dale’s Pale Ale, from new-to-town Colorado import Oskar Blues.
For the most part, however, this will be a good stop-off before a show at the Aragon a few blocks north. The menu is full of pub-fare stalwarts like Angus burgers, steak sandwiches and beer-steamed mussels and frites.
That’s not to say you’ve seen this before, exactly. That is, unless you already have a place for pumpkin Manhattans or basil juleps made with white lightning.
In which case, you now have two.
