1984

Brattle Theatre's 1984 Repertory Series

Anyone already having waded into his 30s can recall the films of the early/mid-'80s with some degree of nostalgia. The Brattle Theatre taps into that with a strange spectrum of films from 1984, starting with Friday's Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo screening. Best (read: most obnoxious) '80s gear gets a two-for-one deal on tickets. Do it for Turbo.

10pm, July 31, Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St, Cambridge, 617-876-6838

Last Days of the Achilles Project = 75% Off

The Achilles Project is set to close its doors on Sunday (sad), so owner Michael Krupp is burning down the house with an insane liquidation sale. All day Aug 1, The Achilles Project, 283 Summer St, 617-423-2257

HOP TO IT

Free Craft Beer and Chocolate

Pairing complex chocolates such as Mexicano Guajillo Pepper Chocolate with craft brews like Butternuts Heinnieweisse Weissbeir is actually much easier than pronouncing it. Head to Wine Gallery in Brookline on Saturday for a free tasting. Taza Chocolates of Sommerville provides the sweetness. You bring the thirst.

No cost, 3-6pm, Aug 1, Wine Gallery, 375 Boylston St, 617-277-5522, info here

BOYS WILL BBOYS

United Styles World Bboy Cup

The question isn't, "Why would you go to the biggest break-dancing competition on the East Coast featuring breakers from all over the globe competing for $50,000?" The question is, "Why wouldn't you?" Original bboys from '70s/'80's (Crush Groove, anyone?) who kicked off the revolution will be on hand to "rockkit" with the young'ins.
411:
$25, 3-11pm, Aug 1-2, Cyclorama, 539 Tremont St, 617-426-5000, tickets here

MEAT YOU THERE

BamBar-B-Que at Bambara

The last few days have been a humid, hazy mess. So brave the Red Line T over to Cambridge for a riverside BBQ at Bambara on Saturday. Tables stocked with their own buckets of seasonal Harpoon brew and mounds of grilled meats (brisket, chicken, shrimp and chorizo) should take your mind off the heat, if only by way of indigestion later.
411:
$30, 7pm, Aug 1, Bambara, 25 Edwin H. Land Blvd, 617-868-4444, call to RSVP

SEXY TIME

Sex and Drugs Trivia at Savant Project

Some enjoy quiet Sundays at home decompressing before a heavy week ahead. For the rest of you, head to Savant Project on Sunday for a boozy trivia night, where you'll be quizzed on such topics as sex acts, joint-rolling and stoner cinema. It's hosted by noted sexologist Megan Andelloux, who's like the Alex Trebek of sex trivia.
