A Very Dapper Room on Nantucket Harbor

A limerick:

There once was a man from Nantucket.

Who turned a chandlery into an American-flag-filled outfitter full of things that make you look better.

Fine... well, it’s at least a good description of TownPool, a new provisions pop-up inside an old ship repair shop right on Nantucket Harbor, opening Friday.

You’ll walk into this well-worn little building perched on a dock to discover what could be a lost scene from Moonrise Kingdom—whitewashed fir wood walls. Cozy striped couches under an American flag (plus another painted flag, because America). A wall of framed photography from the owner’s Instagram. Keep on walking and... you’re in the Atlantic Ocean.

So stick around and browse the merchandise instead. The owner’s stocking small brands that don’t have brick-and-mortars of their own.

What that means for you: Cape-appropriate-length shorts from Chubbies. Smoking slippers made out of Turkish rugs from a designer in Southie. Aviators and Wayfarers from Red’s Outfitters in Atlanta. And hand-stitched needlepoint belts from Tucker Blair (okay, so they have a Boston showroom) inside of a propped-up sailboat in the corner. Of course there’s a sailboat in the corner.

Look alive, though—this place will only be around until Labor Day.

Nantucket giveth, and Nantucket taketh away.
