Plan B
Latin Eggnog and Tapas in Union Square
The holidays are upon us. (Duh.)
Which means sharing that which you hold most dear among friends and loved ones.
Yes, we’re talking about tapas. In this case, the kind you’d find at an underground supper club. In
Somerville.
Introducing
Casa B, a new bi-level safe house for lots and lots of tapas (and eggnog), soft-opening
tomorrow in Union Square.
Designed by an architect husband-and-wife team that previously ran an underground supper club, this place
feels like you’re walking into somebody’s home. Think: plush couches, warm colors and walls lined
with photographs of generations of the owners’ family (consider yourself the super-interesting family
friend).
So yeah, you’ll probably want to use this place for dates. Grab a table downstairs near the wall of
plants. Break the ice with a couple of
Picante y Cilantros (tequila, jalapeño and cilantro). Then,
go tapas: Spanish sausage cooked in sherry served on a slice of bread, or a
Tabla de Ceviches,
basically a wooden board loaded with lobster, red snapper and salmon ceviche meant for sharing (it helps
that you’re sitting at communal tables).
And if you’re feeling Yuletide-y, go for the Latin eggnog, made from scratch with cream, spices and a lot
of rum.
It’s how Spanish Santa mellows out after work on the 26th.
