When you think of oyster-centric bars in Kenmore Square, you think... uh, well, nothing really.

Good news: that all changes tonight.

Say hello to Island Creek Oyster Bar, your brand-new mecca for all things oyster and other treats of the sea, now open in the former Great Bay space in Kenmore Square.

If someone took the entire Island Creek oyster farm in Duxbury, condensed it down into a sleek, sexy, 175-seat spot for logging in solid Belgian beer-and-raw-bar time, this would be it.

And while you’ll want to head in here with a cadre of fellow Island Creek oyster fans, don’t let the name fool you. Besides the endless Island Creek oysters, there’s a rotating list of oysters from 18 different farms on both coasts—like Hog Island oysters from SF and Olympia oysters from Washington State. Plus: a daily-changing selection of the freshest fish you can catch (think: Line Caught Atlantic Swordfish). And should anyone in your crew be experiencing Jeremy Piven-levels of mercury, don’t worry—there’s plenty of Braised Berkshire Pork Shank and other turf-able options.

Of course, all seafood goes down better with creative cocktails, so they’ve corralled bar vets from Eastern Standard and Craigie on Main to bring you a slew of daily-changing drinks like the Wildwood, made with rye, cinnamon and absinthe.

The world is your absinthe cocktail.
