Things to do for August 28, 2014

The Weekender

Mermaid Competition. Fried Pizza. Weekend Madness.

Like a hot weekend through butter.

Thursday
Go to a Castle. Drink. Dance. Be Jolly.
KING OF THE CASTLE

Go to a Castle. Drink. Dance. Be Jolly.

You’re heading into a long weekend. Better start off slow. Perhaps on the lawn of a Midtown castle. Perhaps with an indie-folk band playing on the porch. Perhaps with food from One Love and drinks from the bar. Perhaps especially that last part.

Friday
The High’s Getting Weird on You Again
HIGH ANOTHER DAY

The High’s Getting Weird on You Again

You’ve probably noticed that there’ve been 36 red houses in the High’s courtyard all summer. You probably haven’t noticed the Atlanta Ballet’s Wabi Sabi girls dancing in them while a band plays using weird things as instruments. That’s because it’s happening tomorrow night. If you have noticed those things, consult a physician immediately.

This Is About a Mermaid Competition

Your Friday Night Strategy:
Step 1: Go to Dragon Con.
Step 2: Bear with us.
Step 3: Use your badge to gain entrance to an attendees-only pool party with pinup girls, burlesque performers and a mermaid competition.
Step: 4: Realize that it’s impossible to judge a mermaid.

Sunday
Smokebelly Needs You at This Lawn Party
SMOKE SCREEN

Smokebelly Needs You at This Lawn Party

Wait until you see what Smokebelly has planned for their first Q and Brew Lawn Party on Labor Day eve. All we’ll say is that it involves live music, beer, barbecue and shutting down the parking lot to bring in a huge smoker. That’s all we’ll say.

Tuesday
All the Fried Pizza Will Be Here
SIR FIX-A-LOT

All the Fried Pizza Will Be Here

Now, four things about a new pizzeria opening next week in Roswell:
1) It’s called the Real Fix.
2) It’s from the owners of the Salt Factory Pub and Little Alley Steak.
3) The Beastmaster is a fried pizza with meatballs, sausage, pancetta, bacon and pepperoni.
4) The Beastmaster sounds pretty good.
