Five New Reasons to Love Thy Neighbor

Hello and happy April 15. The good news: this isn’t about taxes. The better news: this is about a few of our neighbors who have been hiding all manner of striking garmentry from your body. Here now: five regional shops you should keep your eye on.

Harrison Limited
MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL

Harrison Limited

What: White bucks, weatherproof Barbour jackets and alligator belts from a 23-year-old store that just put some of its wares online after realizing these things shouldn’t be confined to Mountain Brook.
Why: You need some things to wear to Steeplechase this weekend. These are those things.

Amazig Leathers
KNOXVILLE, TN

Amazig Leathers

What: A Kentucky native’s operation wherein messenger bags and camera straps and things of that nature are made from Moroccan leather.
Why: Because now you have that many more reasons to say stuff like “Oh, this old thing?”

Centennial Trading Company
WINSTON-SALEM, NC

Centennial Trading Company

What: A collection of miscellany that the Fonz would’ve appreciated. Fancy pomade. Black Moto gloves. A coffee-table book filled with black-and-white motorcycle images from a guy named Q-Ball.
Why: They’ve also got vintage L.L.Bean houndstooth flannels and cardinal belt buckles, if it’s more of a Richie Cunningham thing.

Nisolo
NASHVILLE, TN

Nisolo

What: Chukkas, loafers, oxfords and boat shoes that were all handmade in Peru before being sent to the Nashville showroom.
Why: You have feet.

Loyal Stricklin
AUBURN, AL

Loyal Stricklin

What: Leathery afterthought-type things. You know, a travel wallet. Horween billfolds. A leather mug holder with a handle. Although that’s really more of a forethought.
Why: It’s tax day. We don’t even know what that means, but... leather mug holder.
