A Midtown Pub for Playoff Baseball

Somewhere out there, it’s fall.

Also, somewhere out there, it’s after 5pm, a ball game is almost starting, and there’s a big, tall beer with your name on it.

Assuming your parents were hippies and named you something weird like Highland Brewing Oatmeal Porter.

Anyway, take a look at The Drafting Table, an all-the-way-autumn pub that’s dark, cozy and exactly the kind of establishment playoff baseball requires, shooting to open Monday (permits... permitting) in Pencil Factory Flats.

The wraparound bar and 20 beer taps. You may remember them from when this place was Hill Street Tavern. The white subway tiles, Georgia State Fair–sourced wood tables and Edison-bulb chandelier. You may remember them from... nothing. They’re new. They’re nice. They’re exactly the sort of things you like to surround yourself with when drinking an Abita Andygator and watching the Braves.

So after a game or after work (they’re only open for dinner right now): both perfectly sensible times to come here. Take up temporary residence in a booth (the one facing the bar-mounted flat-screens). Then, summon sport-viewing foodstuffs like paprika-smoked Scotch eggs, curried oxtail and a burger that’s equal parts sirloin and bacon (yes, bacon inside the burger).

And remember, those 20 draft taps are still here/connected to a slew of local beers. So take advantage.

At least one of them probably tastes good with a burger.
