A New Bar-Type Bar Lands in Brookhaven

There’s no sense in sugarcoating it.

Sometimes you just need a bar.

A place to hang your hat, weave a tale or two and generally just be fat and happy (only, you know, not fat).

Well, this is not that type of place.

Just kidding, it totally is...

Welcome to There, a straight-up bar-bar whose name is every bit as simple as its concept... or at least as simple as alligator sausage, Negronis and homemade ginger beer can be, slated to soft-open late next week in Brookhaven.

At first glance, this is definitely one of those Cheers-y/everybody-knows-your-name spots. And that’s a fair assessment, since what you’re basically working with here is some concrete floors, a few black-and-white pictures on the walls and a solid oak bar right in the middle of it all.

But then, as you and a few friends pony up to that bar and peruse a menu stacked with things like Duck Prosciutto and Smoked Trout Deviled Eggs, the layers start to peel back a bit. Yes, there’s a real chef in the kitchen. Which is nice... but it’s not why you’re here.

No, you’re here because of buzzwords like Harvey Wallbanger, Moscow Mule, Singapore Sling and Sidecar. And if the old-school cocktail thing (somehow) isn’t working for you, they’ll also have beer flights from local brewers like Monday Night and Red Hare.

You could always ask for a Rob Roy back.
