A Midtown Lunch Spot with Lots of Fried Chicken

T-minus 30 days until Thanksgiving.

Also, T-minus 30 and a half days until you’re splayed out on a couch. Full. Physically incapable of hearing about things like fried chicken, pork schnitzel and duck-fat french fries.

Well, it’s a good thing today is today. And not, you know, 30 and a half days from now.

Welcome to your regular lunch rotation Bantam & Biddy, a quick and delicious spot for all things chicken (fried, rotisserie, liver) from Shaun Doty (of Yeah Burger fame) and Lance Gummere (of the Shed fame), opening Monday in Ansley Mall.

What you’ve got here is essentially lunch perfection. A laid-back space where the walls have bright green tiles, the kitchen is wide open, the counters are made of wood and everything tastes like chicken. Except the poutine made with duck-fat fries. That tastes like poutine made with duck-fat fries.

Your best bet: coming here around 1pm (or whenever you prefer your regular afternoon chicken sandwich and Left Hand Milk Stout). Place an order up at the counter. Find a seat out on the patio. Do that thing with your hair and the breeze. Then, do that thing with your fork and some deviled eggs with bourbon smoked paprika.

Oh, and next month, they’ll begin opening at 8am for breakfast. Which means chicken and waffles with cane syrup. Or housemade donut holes with cappuccino sauce.

You’ll take a venti.
