Late-Night Caviar at Momofuku

You've long appreciated Momofuku's high-low, left-right culinary unpredictability (roasted foie gras balls here, Southern fried chicken dinners there...). Now, in a move of highbrow culinary roulette, they're introducing late-night caviar—served only between midnight and 2am. Whatever you used to eat at midnight, caviar is the new that.

Tower Records Returns (Sort Of)

The enormous Fourth Street record shop might have closed three years ago, but today you'll be able to enjoy live music and wander through aisles of record bins like it's 2006. Your hosts: No Longer Empty, who temporarily resurrect departed storefronts. Also on hand: a team of music historians to explain age-old concepts like CDs, LPs and leaving your apartment to buy music.

Meat Brawl

The Brooklyn Meatball Slapdown

After you step boldly into this Williamsburg butcher shop, you will witness a battle of great consequence: a meatball-making contest to benefit Roberta's, a neighborhood pizza joint that's opening an on-site rooftop farm. (Yes, you read that right.) After you hit the open bar, they'll hand you a bowl of rigatoni and sauce and send you around to sample meatballs from places like Frankies Spuntino and Bamonte's. Collect them all.

In honor of Prohibition Day, the Lower East Side wizards behind game-changers like gingerbread and bacon chocolate cannoli are unveiling a new line of boozy cannoli in flavors like Irish Coffee, Mudslide and Limoncello. Don't let the fact that Prohibition Day was actually Dec 5 ruin a good time.

The East Village tequila den inaugurates $1 taco Sundays by practically giving away chicken, pork or chorizo soft tacos topped with cilantro, radishes and lime, which usually cost 12 bucks. It's the most encouraging instance of taco-based reverse inflation we've yet come across.
