JANUARY 13: $126 MILLION MANGiants Pitcher Gets to Know Paris
In minor league news, our favorite hotelier Paris Hilton was practically glued to Giants pitcher Barry Zito
all night at the opening of MyHouse in Hollywood nearly a year ago. Whatever ensued did nothing for Zito's
game (or his $126 million contract). Then again, we weren't subjected to a One Night in Zito movie,
so we'll call it even.
MARCH 14: LAND OF BROKEN HEARTSWilliams Puts New Heart to Good Use
Some people like the nurturing type. Case in point: local funnyman Robin Williams who married his son's
nanny (they ended up together for 19 years). Striking yet again, while recovering from heart surgery last
March, he got together with the woman who nursed him back to health. We wonder if
a uniform was involved. Actually, we don't.
ON AND AROUND OCT 10: A BITE OF THE BIG APPLETwo Chefs Dis SF
NY Chefs David Chang and Nate Appleman insult the SF food
scene for eating nothing but figs on plates and being suckers for any parts of humanely raised cows. Keep
your noodles and pizzas in NY, fellas—we'll have our humanely raised cow tripe with figs on a
plate, and like it, too.
OCTOBER 28: BOMB SQUADThe Governator's Cryptic Veto
We didn't consult any statisticians on this. But we'd guess the odds of a veto sent by the governor spelling
out the F-bomb in code, by chance, are pretty low. We do, on the other hand, take it as highly credible that
he signed it with the closure "Hasta la vista, baby."
NOV 1: ELECTION DAYGavin Goes to Hawaii
After putting his ill-fated run for governor to bed, Mayor Newsom took off without telling his staff and
anarchy hit the streets of San Francisco for days. Then, amid rumblings of a Mark Sanford repeat, Gavin was
discovered on the beach in Hawaii with two women…his wife Jennifer Siebel and their baby girl.
