SUNBURNT COW
If you can prove you're Australian, the first beer is on the house. If you're still standing after the last one, there's a $10 barbecue dinner to soak it all up.
BONDI ROAD
Take the high(er) road and go for the $35 seafood tasting and surf videos. Or just come for the Australian music and general merriment later in the night.
8 MILE CREEK
"The usual nonsense" starts at noon, but expect Australian DJ VB live and DJs from Melbourne's triple J spinning via podcast at night. No, they don't play the records backwards.
NEW YORK MAGPIES AUSTRALIA DAY EVENT
The New York Magpies Aussie Football Club (favorite sport of late-night ESPN in the '80s) hosts at The Tonic Bar. Plenty of food, plenty of drink and lots of "Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oi oi oi!" $20 to get in, Aussie music, dancing, videos, beer, wine, Bundaberg Rum and (who could forget) meat pies.
SHEEP STATION
Head to Brooklyn for a $20 all-you-can-eat BBQ and $2 Drongo shots, meat trays, Toss the Boss and Two-Up Darts at Sheep Station.
