We're well acquainted with the charms of Montauk, the Hamptons' laid-back older brother.

And sure, we're partial to the empty beaches, but sometimes you need a hot tub to wash off all that salt.

And now there's a place to find one. Namely, Montauk's The Surf Lodge, opening this weekend from the folks behind CAIN and Gold Bar. After a few months of simmering, they start taking reservations Monday. Get ready.

Don't let the pedigree fool you: The Surf Lodge is built for laid-back surf weekends, not the late-night revelry you're used to from Gold Bar (although don't be afraid to bring the revelry with you). There are only 30 rooms—the cozy surroundings let you get acquainted with the other guests, while the private courtyards and hot tubs get you acquainted with your traveling companions. And when you're hungry, just drop by Sam Talbot's (Top Chef) new seafood restaurant in the lobby.

When you're done with the beach just half a mile away, there are surf-friendly movie screenings (Beautiful Losers and SURFWISE) and concerts (Julian Marley and G-Love) on premises to lure you back to the grounds, along with a well-appointed bar. And any place that lists cachaça as a specialty of the house is bound to be worth a visit.

Like they say, when in Montauk...
